About Our Snowmobile Tour of Leadville’s Historic Mining District
Serving Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, and all of Summit County, Colorado
We are taking snowmobile tour reservations now for dates starting December 1 through April 15th. If we do not have enough snow to operate tours, we will give you a full refund.
You’ll begin at Birdseye Outpost, which is located about 16 miles South of Copper Mountain Resort and situated at a breath-stealing altitude of 10,000 feet. Your guide will train you on the operation of your snowmobile before heading to the Historic Mining District!

The Colorado Mining Belt was the most productive silver mining district in the state.
Cumulative production was 240 million troy ounces of silver, 3 million troy ounces of gold, 987 million tonnes of lead, 712 million tonnes of zinc, and 48 million tonnes of copper.
You will also make a stop at the ghost town of Oro City in California Gulch – one of the single richest placer gold strikes in Colorado, with estimated production of 120,000 to 150,000 troy ounces of gold.
You will also experience breathtaking views of the Sawatch Mountain Range, including the 3 tallest mountains in the Rockies: Mt. Elbert, Mt. Massive, and Mt. Harvard, many mountains over 14,000 feet, and the Collegiate Peaks.
There are many opportunities to stop for photos and to take in the rich mining history.
ABOUT LEADVILLE, CO
In the United States, Leadville is actually the highest incorporated city and the second highest incorporated municipality.
Nestled into the Rocky Mountains at elevation of 10,152 feet, this former silver mining town lies near the headwaters of the Arkansas River.
Nearby is the Historic Leadville Mining District that contains many structures, mines, sites and artifacts from its mining era. In the late 1800s, Leadville was actually the second most populous city in Colorado.

• All guests must arrive wearing clothing that is appropriate for this cold weather, outdoor activity!
• DOT-approved helmets WILL be provided (required).
• Equipment Rentals: Snowsuits $25, Boots $15 on a first come first served basis.
• We will have goggles for rent AND gloves for sale on a limited basis at each outpost.
