Snowmobile Tour FAQs
Do you have an agreement I need to sign before snowmobiling?
What is the best way to check availability and book my tour?
You can see our LIVE AVAILABILITY here on our website, as well as make your reservation. You may also call us at 970-668-9945. However, please know that our phones are very busy! If we are not able to take your call, you can leave us a voicemail, but the quickest way to reserve your tour is online. (We are answering phone calls and returning voicemails as fast as we can!)
Can I bring my child snowmobiling?
ALL passengers MUST be able to sit behind the driver and hold on by themselves without supervision for the duration of the tour. [Even on a 3-seater snowmobile, both passengers must be able to hold on by themselves, as there can be times when that is needed.] We normally see this happening between 4-6 years old, depending on the child. Passengers canNOT sit in front of the driver at any point. No Infants. We recommend that pregnant ladies do NOT participate.
When do I pay for my reservation?
We take full payment when you make your reservation. Your reservation is refundable up to 24 hours before your tour or rental start time.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy — if you let us know at least 24 hours or more prior to your reservation date and time, we can refund your reservation in full. Cancellations or drops in party numbers made within 24 hours of your reservation are NON-refundable. No-shows or drops in party numbers made at check-in are also NON-refundable. And even if you make your reservation within 24 hours before the departure time, our cancellation policy STILL applies. : )
Do you have snowmobiling gear we can use?
We include DOT-approved helmets (open-faced) free of charge for everyone with your tour. We also have adult Snowsuits ($25), adult Insulated Boots ($15), and Goggles ($10) available for rent on a first come, first serve basis. (We do NOT have child-sized snowsuits or boots available for rent.)
Are you in Breckenridge and/or Keystone?
We serve the Breckenridge and Keystone areas, but the towns do not allow motorized sports inside the town, so we are all on the outskirts. Both our Heeney Outpost and our Birdseye Outpost are about 45-50 minutes from Breckenridge/Keystone, with good road conditions.
How do I get there if I don’t have my own vehicle?
We are not providing transportation this season. Most of our customers actually prefer to drive themselves, though, as the drive itself is absolutely beautiful! If you don’t have your own vehicle, there are some shuttle companies in the area that have done a great job for past customers (Jake’s Mountain Shuttle and several others). Ride share apps (Uber, etc) do NOT work reliably, as we are outside of town.
When should I arrive and what if I am running late?
We ask our guests to arrive at least 30-45 minutes prior to your tour time to complete paperwork on-site and get checked in. If you are late, we canNOT hold your tour for you and your tour is NON-refundable. We understand there may be circumstances beyond your control, so we also ask that you give us a call and we will do our best to try to accommodate you, but please know that will not be able to fix every circumstance.
What do I need to bring?
A valid driver’s license or learner’s permit to drive. A valid photo ID if you are a passenger. Minors under 18 years old must have their legal guardian complete their waiver on-site. Warm clothes! Snowsuits (or coats and pants), boots, gloves, scarves, balaclavas, goggles or sunglasses, sunscreen, camera. Please do NOT bring ski helmets as they are not DOT-approved. We provide open-faced, DOT-approved helmets. (A few of our helmets have a go-pro attachment, but not many.) Also bring a happy attitude ready to have a fun adventure!! Do NOT bring alcohol, drugs, etc, and a bad attitude! : )
What happens if I damage a snowmobile?
You are responsible for repairs of any collision damages that you may have caused. The good news is that High Country Tours offers our “Snowmobile Repair Fund.” By contributing $30 (per driver) to this fund before your tour, you will be responsible for the first $1500 to repair the damage to the driver’s snowmobile that the driver has caused. The repair of the driver’s snowmobile over $1500 will come out of the repair fund.
We recommend you talk to your insurance provider prior to your tour to make sure you have adequate coverage for this activity. Considering that some of our machines cost over $16,000, this could be a very wise choice.
When does the snow tubing happen?
We offer snow tubing AS A STOP DURING A SNOWMOBILE TOUR at our Heeney Outpost only. Please book the Scenic Tour with Snow Tubing, OR the Action Tour with Snow Tubing if you wish to include that in your snowmobile tour. Snow tubing does NOT take place before or after your snowmobile tour — you have to ride your snowmobile to get to the tubing hill! : )
