OUR SNOWMOBILES
Safety and Trail Etiquette for Colorado Snowmobile Tours
SAFTEY
No backcountry adventure is complete until everyone is back home safe. Guides from High Country Tours will take the time necessary to demonstrate how to safely operate the snowmobile you’ll be driving.
You’ll also start out on some easier trails so that you can get comfortable before you take on the more challenging parts of the Colorado Rockies. We want you to be able to brag to all your friends about your amazing experiences in the snow, rather than have to explain to them how things went wrong.
It’s unsafe and illegal to operate a snowmobile in Colorado while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Our guides will allow you to go at a pace that is comfortable for you, so never go faster than your comfort zone, or take on terrain that you makes you feel unsafe.
Ultimately, it’s up to you to handle the snowmobile safely, but we’ll do everything in our power to make sure that you have the necessary skills.
TRAIL ETIQUETTE
Snowmobiling is a community activity and our tours operate under a special Bureau of Land Management permit, so respecting your fellow riders and the environment is extremely important.
Here are some common tips that will help keep you and everyone else safe:
- Keep to the right side of the trail
- Give trail groomers the right of way
- Reduce your speed when there is oncoming traffic
- Give uphill riders right of way when you are traveling downhill
- Slow down and give the right of way to any non-motorized traffic like hikers or skiers
- Always report illegal operation out on the trails
- Slow down when passing a parked snowmobile on the trail.
- Obey any posted speed limits and other trail signs
**All or part of this operation is conducted under Special Use Permit issued by the Bureau of Land Management**
