Our Mountain Top Action Tour Experience

This guided tour has two options: approximately two hours or approximately three hours. You’ll start out at over 10,000 feet of altitude from our Birdseye Outpost, which is located about 16 miles South of Copper Mountain Resort. Your guide will then train you on the operation of your snowmobile before your party starts up Prospect Mountain (up to 12,600 feet!) to attack the trails and take in the majestic scenery. If the weather cooperates, you’ll be afforded views of Leadville’s Historic Mining District, the Continental Divide, three of the tallest mountains in the Rockies and much more!

Due to the more technical riding skills required on this guided Colorado snowmobile tour, usually only single riders are allowed. However, we will sometimes allow experienced drivers to take a passenger. Please keep in mind that this is decided on a case-by-case basis, so call us for more information if you’re interested in this option.

OUR SNOWMOBILES

Featured Point of Interest: Gore Range, Colorado

The Gore Range (elevation approximately 12,000 ft) is a mountain range in the Rocky Mountains of north central Colorado in the United States. The range runs for approximately 60 miles northwest-to-southeast, through western Grand and Summit counties, and eastern Routt and Eagle counties.  They form the southern extension of the Park Range, extending southward from Rabbit Ears Pass to the Eagle River near the popular resort town of Vail. It’s about 32 miles northeast of Breckenridge 80424.  The Colorado River passes through the range at Gore Canyon.

The Gore Range was named in honor of Sir George Gore by Jim Bridger, an early trapper and explorer of the Rocky Mountains. Bridger documented the Great Salt Lake in 1824 and guided westward settlers through Bridger Pass in 1850, shortening the Oregon Trail by 61 miles.

The Gore Range became a site of interest to miners seeking gold and silver during the latter half of the 19th century. Many mine tailings and shallow digs exist throughout the Gore Range, including the former Boss Mine ruins along the Rock Creek Trail. Numerous gold seekers left the slopes of the Gore Range pock-marked with diggings that remain part of the features of the landscape within the forest.
